Killed in pineapple farms || Inside Out
On a 22,000-acre piece of land that cuts across the Murang’a and Kiambu county borders, a small fruit that lands on the plates of many Kenyans and international supermarket outlets is causing big trouble. The pineapple. The fruit has seen unimaginable acts carried out on those who attempt to pluck it unauthorised, steal it and even those going about their business using the roads that cut through the vast farm. Many have been maimed, rape and tens murdered.
The company at the Centre of all of this is Del Monte Kenya, whose guards are on record for using excessive force whenever a trespasser is found within the confines of the pineapple farm.
The family of a 28-year-old man says time has stood still since his murder occurred within Del Monte farm.
