CS Namwamba promises Harambee Stars Sh2.5 million for every win as they depart for 2026 world cup qualifiers

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba, this morning saw off the Harambee Stars team as they departed for West Africa for their first two world cup 2026 qualifiers group matches against Gabon on November 16, and Seychelles in Ivory Coast on Monday, November 20. This is the first time in two years that Harambee Stars is taking part in competitive international football matches, following a two-year hiatus as a result of FIFA suspension. CS Ababu rallied the Kenyan Team to go forth and put their best foot forward for Kenya, adding that the Government through his ministry had done the best for the team to ensure that they were better prepared for the qualifiers. “The Government put in all efforts to guarantee proper preparations for you. We have paid your allowances and chartered this aircraft so that we minimize jetlag for you. I have confidence in the team and urge you to go forth and give it your best,” rallied CS Ababu. The CS promised the team Kes 2.5 million for every 3 points earned at the qualifiers. “For every three points that you give me, you get 2.5 million. You win these two qualifiers and I have your 5 million shillings ready as you land back in the country. CS Ababu noted that the Government has fully supported the team, with good level build-up friendlies, including against World Cup teams such as Russia, Qatar and Iran, in addition to facilitating quality residential camp for the required time. “Player allowances and technical bench dues have been sorted. I believe we have given you the best we could and all we ask is that you put your best foot forward for Kenya. The whole 50 million of us, led by our President H.E. William Ruto, are behind you and we will be cheering you on as you take on these crucial games. Our prayers and best wishes with you boys.”
