IGAD resolves to send Ruto, Kiir and Guelleh to reconcile conflicting groups in Sudan
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has issued a call for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the warring parties in Sudan.
In a virtual meeting of Heads of State, President William Ruto and other African leaders, including Presidents Salva Kiir of South Sudan, Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, and Hassan Mohamud of Somalia, discussed the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
The leaders called on the Transitional Sovereign Council General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo to halt the conflict and return to the negotiation table.
IGAD has resolved to send Presidents Kiir, Ruto, and Guelleh to Sudan at the earliest opportunity to reconcile the conflicting groups.
Kipchoge targeting Boston victory in marathon quest
Eliud Kipchoge aims to move one step closer to his dream of winning all six world marathon majors on Monday when he makes his long-awaited Boston Marathon debut as the famous race marks the 10th anniversary of the 2013 bombing that left three people dead.
The undisputed Kenyan king of marathon running has never run Boston – the world’s oldest annual marathon first held in 1897 – but is tackling the hilly 26.2 mile course for the first time as part of a bid to complete his set of major victories.
Death toll of Sudan clashes rises to 97: Doctors’ union
The death toll from fierce fighting between Sudan’s regular army and paramilitaries has risen to at least 97, with scores of other people wounded, the doctors’ union said early Monday.
“The death toll among civilians in clashes since it began on Saturday … has reached 97,” it said in a statement, noting that the figure does not include all casualties as many could not reach hospitals due to difficulties in movement.
Ruto alludes he offered Kalonzo the speaker position to join Kenya Kwanza govt
President William Ruto alluded he and his administration offered Kalonzo Musyoka the speaker position in a bid to woo him to join the Kenya Kwanza government.
Ruto was speaking at a Church Service at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos where he thanked the Kamba region for voting him in.
Ruto hinted that he and his administration had offered Kalonzo Musyoka CS slots for his Kamba region, and after he rejected it, Alfred Mutua was offered the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs position.
