Kenyans are not used to honesty, Rigathi Gachagua says
‘Is the truthful man a bitter man?’ NTVs Dancun Khaemba asked Rigathi Gachagua during a media interview held on the evening of 12 March 2023.
“People mistake honesty for bitterness,” said Rigathi Gachagua answered.
“Kenyans have a right to say what they want. This is a democracy,” noted Rigathi.
The second in command went ahead to hit out at the media, “You people of the media, you demeaned me, you called me names, you drew caricatures against me, you said I’m uncultured, I’m a villager but on 9 August the people of Kenya disagreed with you.”
4 people arrested in possession of 15 pieces of elephant tusks
Last night, a joint operation between law enforcement officers and Kenya Wildlife Service personnel led to the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of 15 pieces of elephant tusks in Wangige, Kiambu County.
The suspects identified as Daniel Musembi Kimilu, Michael Kimeru Karanja, Charles Njomo Okwach and Jane Wangui Kiarie are currently in custody at King’eero police station awaiting arraignment in court.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit out at the Kenyan media for allegedly being biased and failing to report objectively on political matters. While answering questions on a media interview Rigathi accused the media of taking sides and misleading the public by presenting skewed narratives that serve their interests.
Gachagua’s views comes weeks afer Senator Aaron Cheruiyot accused journalists of misrepresenting facts and resorting to sensationalism to generate headlines.
Gachagua has argued that the media has a crucial role to play in informing the public and shaping public opinion, and therefore, must be impartial in their reporting.
ADF rebels kill 17 in east DR Congo: villagers
Suspected ADF militants on Sunday killed at least 17 people in eastern DR Congo, local officials said, only days after the Islamist-aligned group conducted another massacre in the troubled region.
The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which the Islamic State group claims as its central African affiliate, is one of the deadliest armed militias in eastern Congo, accused of slaughtering thousands of civilians.
The latest attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Kirindera in North Kivu province’s Beni territory, according to village chief Katembo Kahongya.
“We have 17 dead and four wounded,” he told AFP, adding that the militants had also set fire to buildings.
