ANC officials ask Malala to respect Mudavadi, Wetangula after ‘village party’ remarks
Officials of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party in Trans Nzoia have condemned United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala for advocating the merger of Kenya Kwanza coalition affiliate parties with UDA.

The ANC officials argued that Malala’s sentiments are unwarranted, as they amount to diminishing the significance of parties such as ANC and Ford Kenya, which played a crucial role in securing President William Ruto’s victory in the 2022 general elections.
“We consider it disrespectful for Malala, a former member of ANC, to trivialize the parties that collaborated with UDA to establish the Kenya Kwanza government in the last general elections. This undermines the spirit of unity,” asserted Solomon Murutu, the secretary in Kitale.
Murutu urged Malala to abstain from making unfounded statements that undermine the coalition’s spirit, highlighting that the current government’s position wouldn’t have been attainable without the collaboration of ANC and other parties.
Malala recently reiterated his call for ANC and Ford Kenya parties to dissolve and merge with UDA, arguing that this move would strengthen UDA’s position as a formidable force in the 2027 elections.
ANC officials dismissed the merger suggestions, emphasizing their dedication to expanding the party’s membership in preparation for the 2027 general elections where the party will field candidates except for the president position.
“We are actively enlisting new members into the party. This serves as a demonstration to our members that we have no intention of disbanding, as our party’s goals extend beyond the current generation” Kevin Kubumba, the youth leader, stated.
The party’s chairman Herman Malavi dismissed Malala’s remarks, suggesting that Malala may be overly enthusiastic about his current position, which may be leading him to believe he holds a superior role over Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties.
These statements were made by the officials on the sidelines of an initiative aimed at profiling widows in the county to create a database that can support programs. They also called on the government to provide social support to widows.
